Mission Statement

The Blackpool & Fylde Beekeepers Association was established to promote and bring to public attention an awareness of the importance of bees in the environment; and to support beekeepers through education, information and practical help necessary to maintain healthy colonies of honey bees

Objectives

>   The improvement of beekeeping throughout the Fylde coast and beyond.
>   Education and training of beekeepers.
>   Public relations and education.
>   The control of disease and disorders of honeybees.
>   To raise public awareness to the plight of honey bees through information and interaction
>   To help and support new and existing beekeepers

Blackpool Beekeepers are a friendly and growing group of committed beekeepers who meet on a regular basis throughout the year to share knowledge, experiences and develop their beekeeping skills. Membership is currently expanding and new members are always welcome

The Blackpool & Fylde Branch offers all newcomers a comprehensive training and familiarisation packages to ensure that they become competent beekeepers.

Throughout the year, there is held a diverse range of talks and workshops, on a wide range of topics suitable for people old and new to beekeeping, or just those just interested in beekeeping and wish to know more about honey bees.

We also have a number of social events, where there is the opportunity for exchange of experiences with the highs and lows of beekeeping. Some events are held at member's apiaries and practical demonstrations are held at the Club's out-apiary.

The benefits of membership are manyfold and experienced Club members are always available to provide guidance and practical assistance when necessary. Club membership also includes public liability insurance, bee disease insurance, a copy the bi-monthly magazine of the British Beekeeper's Association and invitations to the shows and activities of other beekeeping clubs in the north-west region and further afield.
